A RIGHT RELATIONSHIP with God and right relationships with each other are the reason for the gospel and the result of our faith.

Sin came into the world and caused a WRECKED RELATIONSHIP with God.

The broken arrow represents our WRECKED RELATIONSHIP with God, caused by sin. Sin separates us from God and leaves us broken.

It's our sin nature and sinful choices that lead us to a WRECKED RELATIONSHIP with God. The term “sin” is used to describe God’s perfect standard in which humanity in action, deed, and word falls short. The word "sin" is just an archery term meaning to miss the bullseye. Sin is not only something we do but it’s part of who we are in our very nature, apart from Christ. God, being perfect and holy can not and will not tolerate sin in any way. It's our sin nature and sin choices that seperate us from God and wrecked the relationship we were intended to have. 

• Ephesians 2:1–3 “As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh  and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.”
